Paper Blocks

These beautiful, minimal, paper blocks were designed by Mai Miura for Shirara – a collaboration of a graphic design collective called Communication Engineers and a printing company, Yoshida Printing, in Japan. They make a special craft project for children and adults alike. You can enjoy them as they come – in white – or paint and draw on them to create something unique. And when all the blocks are built, you can just stack everything back into the original packaging which doubles as a storage tray. Now available for the first time in Australia this designer set includes 23 blocks of various shapes and sizes and a paper storage tray. They come flat and ready to assemble with self-adhesive pieces which are pre-cut and scored, so there’s no need for scissors, tape or glue.

Flokk Colour Wings - Pink

Check out these very cool paper gliders that are a first to Australia! A little birdy told us that Flokk Colour Wings have been known to glide through the air for sometimes more than one minute! And no surprise, really, as they were designed and developed by airplane engineering pioneer, Dr Yasuaki Ninomiya, the Chairman of Japan’s Association for paper airplanes (we want his job!). With their aerodynamic design, these gliders definitely go further than your average paper plane. When properly tuned and under good flying conditions, Flokk can ride thermals and gain impressive altitudes and distances of up to 270 metres. They come in four bright colours – light blue, sunny yellow, hot pink or vibrant orange. And, you’ve got to love this, no tools, glue or scissors are required – it comes with pre-cut adhesive parts, ready for you to peel away and assemble in less than 10 minutes! Each glider comes with illustrated instructions, balsa-wood body, pre-cut paper parts and a rubber catapult set. Package size is 28.5cm × 11.5cm.

Do Nothing Orange

Oh, the serenity… it’s that blissful state of nothingness that we all dream of. This peaceful mood is reflected in the very cool, calm and collected Do Nothing Orange print. Most of you are probably familiar with this artist’s illustrations, without even knowing it. Simon Oxley is the clever creative behind the original cute twitter bird illustration! Simon is an illustrator and designer who runs his own creative studio called ‘Idokungfoo’ (awesome name!) in Japan. Simon’s quirky and vibrant illustrations often feature a strong Japanese influence and more than a touch of imaginative humour. This artwork has been printed on acid free paper using Epson K3 Ultrachrome inks, which have an archival value extending beyond 100yrs. Prints are signed by the artist and measure 29.7cm x 42cm.
